I was stationed at Lowry from April '61 to Feb '62 attending Electronics tech school. I ended up in final phase training on the MG-13 system which was the RADAR system built by Hughes Aircraft for the F-101B Voodoo. I shipped out in Feb. '62 to my PCS at Glasgow AFB, Mt. I loved Denver and met a great bunch of airmen while there.

Thank you Gary for your service. I will never forget getting in that b-52 with you at the museum as a kid.

I commanded the Lowry OQ Range during 1956 --1959 and it was the most enjoyable assignment of my career!

I was first assigned to Lowry AFB in september 1956 for training as a B-36 Tail Gunner. We werer taught assembly/disassembly of the M24A1 20MM cannon and operation of the APG41B radar system. We also fired live ammunition from the OQ range located 10 miles east of Buckley.I attended B-52 gunnery school at Lowry in april 1959.Once again live fire practice at the old OQ range. The B-52 "B" model at the museum,(005) Saw duty as a combat A/c at Castle AFB,Ca.in the early 60's.Anyone interested will find my name in the tail compartment window frame.Lowry was a great place to serve.I still go back every other year or so. Thank you~~ Gary Lisenbee

My school at Lowry was the E-systems, which had a duration of 39 weeks, class #12126, Dec. 1956. I worked on the F-89D & F-102A, radar (fire control). 460FIS, and 337th CAM squadrons at Portland,Ore. for three years. Air Defence Command remember Lowry very well, those old old barracks in 1957. Good to see this web site. Thanks Don P.S. KP duty at the large mess hall.
