The newer L-1s are actually L-3s. The designation, as well as the performance changed during the 1983 model year. Featured upgraded engine (250-C30P), transmission, and rotorhead. Current production model is 206L-4, and the next generation 407, which features a wider cabin as well as a four-bladed rotor system, etc.

I've flown in helicopters including LongRangers,JetRangers, etc.Although they are noisy and vibrating they are one of the best helicopters around.

I work on 206L-1's and 206L-3's. I'm not sure where you got these numbers, but I find them to be a little innaccurate. The newer L-1's have an Allison C30P engine in them that has a shaft output of 650 hp.

The ceiling of these aircraft is over 10,000 ft. Depending on the year, some of our L-1's won't exceed 10,000 ft, while some will easily attain 12,000 ft.

The 206L is also the safest single engine aircraft you can fly in according to the NTSB.
