The -3 variant of the SO3C was an attempt to improve performance by installing an uprated Ranger V-770-8 vs. the original -6 engine.Performance was still disappointing and production of the Seagull was finally terminated.

Fairey had some pretty ugly airplanes, but the SO3C has to be one of the ugliest airplanes of all time. In my humble opinion.
