A-4Q's were refurbished A-4B's that were bought by the Argentinean Navy (Armada or ARA) in 1970. After a complete overhaul and some modifications (specially in the wings, adding new slats, flaps and more pylons, 16 aircraft (lus some A-4B's for spares) were picked up by the ARA 25 de Mayo (Modified Colossus Aircraft Carrier, V-2) in Dec., 1971. FIrst arrested landing on V-2 took place Aug 14th.. 1972. Operating under EA-33 (VFA-3) in the 1982 war with the UK, the "Quebecs" spent the first part of the ocnflict on board the carrier providing her with CAP coverage. Later on they operated from BAN Rio Grande (NAS). They are credited with the sinking of two frigates, HMS Ardent and HMS Antelope. By 1986, lack of spares and airframe fatigue led to the disbandement of EA 33. The two surviving "quebecs" operated under EA32 (VFA-2; Super Etendard Sqn.) until they were definitely withdrawn from service on 1988.
