I basically have the same question as Steve Piper regarding the common practices of COD flights to and from the Phillipines to ships in Yankee station. I flew off the Yorktown in June 14, 1968 and returned on June 16, 1968 after having been given permission to visit my brother stationed in subic bay. I am sure that I landed in Vietnam but need confirmation as to boots on the ground. Thanks in advance for any help I might be able to get.

I was a c-2A Loadmaster/IFPC/Crew Chief in VRC-50 and that VRC squadron in san Diego.
1800+ flight hours, over 600 traps, and not a singel scratch on me for it. Loved the airplane, met my best friends in 50, she just doesn't get the credit she deseres!

I know the airplane very well. I was a flight line inspector for Grumman in the late 80's early 90's. Worked out of the Bethpage facility. Spent many an hour in them getting them ready for first flight thru delivery and still miss the sound of her. I was and still am very proud of the work we did.

Flew from Da Nang to the Ranger on 1/5/71 on C-1A (000). Trying to prove boots on the ground. Did C-1A's fly from Cubi to Yankee Station. If so, was it more likely personnel would fly from Cubi to Da Nang to carriers on Yankee Station. Thanks for any help.

Wilbur England, I watched you guys set that Greyhound down on 2 wheels. VRC-50 det. Cubi. That landing was a sight to behold, I won't forget it. Was with you from 69 to 71. Fond memories of Atsugi, Cubi Pt, and then Danang and the old C1A. Good to see your post.

Was aircrew stationed at Atsugi with the Foo Dogs of VRC-50. Spent a lot of time at Cubi Point R.P.I.flying to the carriers on yankee station. Was plane captian on C2 that gear box and prop seaperated from on the way back to Cubi. Was only aircrew on C2 sent back to stateside for upgrades in 1969. Had some great guys to work and fly with.C2s wern't built for glory, but for work and they are still doing it. Try Vrc-50 association inc. Once a Foo Dog always a Foo Dog.

been working at VRC-40 for the last 4 years and love these birds. fighter guys will make fun all day long, but these are great birds, and cods are the best community. we're getting np2000 8-blade props on some birds right now, but engines are still the same. very cool stuff. ill always be a cod guy
