Myself along with Maj. Herb Valentine & Maj Joe Price were the three pilots from HMX-1 at Ouantico that were given the pleasure of testing the YRON for field use in the the Marine Corps. This took place in the early 60's and at one time we took them to Camp Pendelton during for an amphib operation. At that time now LtGen. Vic Armstrong was our C.O.and as fate would have it General Marion Carl shoot the program down after he tried flying it for one hairy short hop on it. The YRON was very sensative since it had a delayed reaction to the slghtest cyclic movement. All in all it was a kick in the ass to fly.
