I am looking for any information about a P-38G (SN# 42-13042) flown by Lt. Warren L. Singer (my grandfather). It was last seen over the coast near Manfredonia by 2nd Lt.Cark F. Hendrix Jr on August 25, 1943. Lt. Warren L. Singer is listed as a POW. That's all I know.

Am searching for details of a P38G that was lost on 12/7/1943 on a ferry flight between Gibraltar and Malta.
It was this aircraft that force landed out of fuel on Sardinia and was later to be used by the Italian A/F pilot Tondi to shoot down a B17.
Any details re serial number of the P38G and pilot name and eventual fate welcome.
Thank you in advance.
Alex.
