I arrived in Kingsville, Texas in January, 1957 and was assigned to ATU 212. Left the squadron in May, 1961. While there, went to Corpus, through the pressure chamber and ejection seat orientation and had numerous rides in the rear seat of the TV 2. At the time, Lt. Bruce Brown was my division officer. Every time he had an empty back seat, he would offer a ride to an enlisted man. Great airplane, great time in the life of a 19 year old. We later transitioned to the F9F-8T.

I went up for an hour in a TV-2 out of Corpus Christi Texas.
It was during two weeks of aviation indoctrination as a Midshipman, in the summer of 1955.
The LT. flying the plane did a barrel-rowel, I was looking up and saw the top of a 4 engine airplane and a ship past that in the Gulf of mexico. It was just as smooth as if were were flying level. Great ride, but not for carrier landings!

I was stationed at El Toro in 1966 as a Plane Captain of Plane #2. I uploaded a picture of this aircraft, with me standing beside it (TV 2). I was also on flight pay with this aircraft and have logged over 30 hours in the back seat.

I was a jet mechanic and also had to fly when any major repairs were performed on the aircraft.

Imagine my surprise when visiting the Museum in Pensacola 3 years ago and finding the TV-2 on display with the markings of ATU-200. This was my first duty station after AM"A" school. I got my first experience as a Plane Captain on this aircraft and have many fond memories of this introduction to Naval Aviation. I reported to Kingsville around middle 1953 and retired as AMCS in 1977.

The Kansas Aviation Museum has TV-2 number one as part of its collection tail number: 51-4019, c/n: 580-5313 and BuNo: 126583. Tail numbers listed here for the TV-2 prior to 1951 were actually TO-2's not TV-2's. Please contact me if you have any pictures of this aircraft in service as we are trying to restore it to its original markings.

My father was stationed at MCAS El Toro in the late 1950's and was a Crew Chief of a TV-2. He often told stories about it, but I had never actually seen one until I came upon your site. He was very fond of those days!

I was stationed at NAS from 1955 through 1958 as a AT Electronics Tech. I was also luckey enough to have flight skins almost every month, so I had a lot of hours in the tv-2. It was such a great time with those cloud chases above Memphis with 3 students that will never be forgoten. Thanks Navy, and all the pilots I flew with.

I was stationed at NAS Memphis from 1955-1957.We had t-28 andTV-2 training aircraft. The TV-2s were painted orange and white, and that was my job.Altogether we painted 40 or 50 of them. Since we couldn't paint in the hanger during the day we had to work the graveyard shift. Tough job, but we had the best chow the navy had to offer. Fond memorys.
