The 388FW Paint Shop has finished work on the Museum’s CH-34J helicopter and it is ready to be returned to the museum. Coordination has been made to move the aircraft down Wardleigh Rd to the museum on Thursday 11 Dec

I worked on the HH-34J helicopters in 1973-74 while assigned to the 301st ARRSq at Homestead AFB. Our H-34s were exNavy and were used as an interim helicopter as we transitioned from the HU-16B to HH-3Es. I enjoyed working on the H-34 especially running the engines. The smell of avgas fumes wafting thru the cockpit while the R-1820 rumbled along was great. Jets are for kids!

The HH-34J on view at Robins AFB was assigned to our squadron. It is nice to be able to show your children a military aircraft that you actually worked on.

Keep 'em flying.
