Just to add to the comment regarding the name Sikorsky use two words Black Hawk in all of their documentation and publicity literature. Thanks www.norrpress.co.uk

Andy...the Army purchased the UH-60 Black Hawk, (two words) from the UTTAS contract, regardless of who it was named after, which brings to bear the question: Where is the AH-1 "Cobra" Indian tribe from? It may trace it's lineage to the Iroquois, but it was never deemed that.

Don't mean to be correcting people or anything, but the previous comment about the name is incorrect. I am an UH-60 pilot, and my Operator's Manual says that I fly a BLACK HAWK, (two words).

Great website with lots of excellent information.
FYI: Notice that all Army helicopters and many of their other aircraft are named for American indian tribes. The UH-60 helicopter is no exception. Contrary to the popular movie, the name should be spelled "Blackhawk," not "Black Hawk."
