MILTON SMITH Clover, SC | F8 was a "flying rocket"...
MARTD WG was my very 1st duty station as a hydraulic mech, 5/1965 > 9/66. Learned alot on "7 Whiskey" F8B's. Prepped me good for VMFA-323 F4B's in Chu-Lai 12/66 > 1/68. MARTD WG was a great duty station with a "tight" unit. It was fun.
Greatest achievement was taking off the wing to repair a fuelcell leak in hinge area [a repair that was NA w/ BuWeaps]... WE DID IT with GREAT SUCCESS, cuz we couldn't wait for O&R to fix.!...
Then Navy tried to do one of thiers & screwed it all up... Had to take apart, pack up & ship on truck to an O&R 05/24/2014 @ 07:20 [ref: 68484] |
