Shawn Wingate wingatesl@mfr.usmc.mil edwards, California | If anyone has any pictures of the marine helicopters from this airshow please forward them on to me mostly looking for the CH-46. Thank you, and BTW I thought it was a great Air Show 02/03/2003 @ 23:27 |
John Barrow youbetr@writeme.com Burbank, California | Its Our Family's first time at the Airshow, and it was very impressive, The tfaffic was not as bad as I have seen at other airshows, Just the sight of the B-52's was worth the drive from Los Angeles, I hope to go back for the 2003 airshow.
Thanks folks, GREAT Job.

Peter Ware London, Alabama | Although I certainly wouldn't say Edwards show was the worst I've been to, I have to agree with Jeff in some respects. As an enthusiast, your level of expectation as regards the static and flying displays at the world's premier military flight test centre is higher than three parachute display teams (a little kid near to me exclaimed to his father "What, gee, not another one"). But, the vast majority of people going to airshows are not 'airplane nuts', it's just a day out for them. They will be more disatisfied with queueing to get in or out, insufficient toilets, etc rather than the fact that this or that fighter didn't fly. I forgot about the excellent display by the B-1 and as for the sonic booms, what other airshow can you hear them. Did anyone notice the U-2? I assumed from the tailcode it originated from the AFMC flight at Warner Robins. Is this correct? 11/03/2002 @ 10:24 |
Jeff Dimitry Long Beach, California | I have been going to airshows in Canada and the United States since 1979. Edwards was my 42nd airshow. I have to say it was the worst show I have ever seen. Poorly organized, dragging on, incorrect schedules, un-impressive flying show, o.k enough with the parachutes I did not go to the famous test center to see an 1 1/2 hours of parachutes. Just to add another kick in the ass making you drive to Mojave to go back to L.A adding an hour to the drive how was insane.
Went to Miramar the weekend before, The BEST airshow I have ever seen, and no traffic problems. 11/02/2002 @ 07:34 |
Austin Dalmann Encino, California | Got to the show around 8:30. The statics were great as they always are. Pretty decent fly bys. But common people. You are talking about an AFB that is just outside one of the largest cities in the world. What do you expect? To roll out of bed at the time the show starts and then expect to breeze on in? If you don't want to get into traffic you have to get a jump on the crowd. Edwards is not going to build an extra ten mile long lane just to please the airshow crowd. Give us all a break! We are lucky they even had an open house this year. And to say you aren't going to support a war with Iraq because it took you too long to get in to an airshow due to their poor planning is extremly ignorant. FYI the pentagon plans wars this is not the function of an AFB. IT is an AFBs job to carry out the orders given to them by the pentagon. It is not their job to please lazy airshow spectators.:( All in all it was another great annual show! 11/01/2002 @ 17:29 |
Peter Ware peterware@streetmanagement.org.uk London, Alabama | It was interesting to read the comments about the traffic problems experienced by people arriving at the show. For a US airshow this was pretty unusual but for anyone who attended the airshow at Fairford this year and paid around $40 for the privilige of spending 3 hours in a traffic jam then waiting 2 hours to be searched, Edwards was a pretty minor inconvienence. Yep, I know thats no consolation for those stuck in a queue on Saturday. I arrived at 0715 and parked at 0745. I had my bag searched but my body remained untouched by the USAF police. Am I that ugly! The show itself was pretty good. My main interest was getting some decent photos of the 'special' stuff that you don't see elsewhere i.e. the X-35,FA-22,MV-22, new block 50 F-16, etc, etc. Alas these were all hangered and surrounded by people. Although it was fascinating to talk to some of the test crews about their aircraft. It was nice to see and get photos of some of the museum aircraft, especially the YA-10B. Pity we didn't get to see the Speckled Trout C-135 before it's retirement. There were some good demos, especially the F-16 and C-141 ones but the Red Bull Mig seemed to be displaying at another airshow in Nevada, it was that far away! I nearly missed the flybys of the based aircraft due to the commentators 3 sec advanced warning. Overall, a good show with plenty to see......and it was free. 10/31/2002 @ 12:07 |
Dale Lewis dwlewis@sierratel.com Nipinnawasee, California | Only in America. You are free to go to an airshow, to drive your car, to own a gun and to be able to speak your mind, free speach. So, how do you get 100,000+- people into a military base?
I was late getting up and had to sit in a long line but the airshow itself was excellent. It's been a long time since I heard a sonic boom. I enjoy watching airplanes fly and at the Edwards airshow that is what we got. Very impressive.
To all the people at Edwards, Thank You......... 10/29/2002 @ 19:26 |
V Watts , California | I don't see how the Air Force could have had 'poor traffic control'. Should they have built extra lanes in the access roads?? The y can't help the roads are narrow two-lane roads. Come on, be logical -you should have gotten up earlier if you wanted to see the whole show. 10/28/2002 @ 14:07 |
V Watts Davis, California | That's exactly right. Poor planning was not on the Air Force's side. I am from Northern CA and saw the entire show. I saw stuff that I've never seen before except in books/TV etc. 10/28/2002 @ 13:58 |
David Thomas EAFBairshow@mcsew2k.com Long Beach, California | Great airshow. I especially liked seeing the C17 STOL demonstration. Definitely a memorable event overall. I would have given the top ranking except for the poor traffic control on the way in. I will most certainly arrive earlier next year. 10/28/2002 @ 12:14 |
