Although, held right during the middle of the nortoroiusly hot and humid Maryland summer, this airshow is a must-attend for any WWII fan. The two things that make this show stand out are the Hangar Dance, held the Friday night before the airshow, and the WWII Ground war reenactment. The 2002 airshow didn't count with some of the German aircraft from previous years, but I still had a great time.

This air show has been going on for many years. I was working the air show in the beginning as an instructor pilot trying to help my FOB fuel airplanes and handout info on pilot licenses to anyone who would listen so I could get more students. It was neat for the first couple of years, but then it started to go down hill and this last one was the worst air show I’ve ever seen. I've rated it "Worth a look" because I couldn't submit this message w/o a rating. Perhaps the site should include other ratings for cases like this. Here are just some reasons: 1- This show is always held during the hottest and haziest time of the year (Who is the brains behind this scheduling anyway?). It is very uncomfortable every year, this year being NO exception. 2- The communication system was so poor you couldn\'t hear anything unless you were on top of one of the two dozen speakers. 3- There was so much dead time it was boring! Meanwhile the MC’s were telling some story you couldn’t understand because of the poor communications. 4- The show did not conform to the advertised program, (read, all acts did not show up!)this is not the first time. 5- I spent $35.00 - $15.00 admission, beef sandwich = $5.00, coke(small) = $2.50, hamburger =$3.00, beer = $3.00, water=$2.50, etc. It’s clear the CAF just want peoples $$$ and they deliver less and less each year! I was very disappointed and I will never attend again. And when people ask me what I think, because I’m a pilot, I’ll tell them it’s is a waste of their $$.

After 57 years my Dad is finally able to talk about his Army Air Corps war experiences in Europe. Last August my Dad and I attended the Wings Over Frederick airshow. What an emotional and healing experience that was for both of us, especially when his plane, the P47 Jug, flew in. We both cried for joy. What a magnificent war bird, that Jug. Seeing his plane brought back a flood of memories to my dad and now I can say I've seen and heard a Jug in flight. I'm proud of my dad. Are we going back to the 2002 airshow? You betcha! A world class show.

I've attended the air show at Frederick over the past 5 years. Access is easy, the city is friendly, the layout is great. Last year Re-enactors were combined with the aerial display to great effect!

One of the best places for a local show. Beautiful hills, beautiful people. Close to BWI and DCA. The show is well planed with lots of time to walk the ramp between shows
