I went the Edwards open house in 99' and 00'. This is a good show to go for Static Displays. they have the shuttle 747. a lot of the test aircraft. The 99 show featured the T-Birds and the weather was great that day. In the morning an F-15 did a supersonic pass.
The 00 show was very windy. and they were not on schedule. There wasnt any major performers that year either. 04/22/2002 @ 04:50 [ref: 2063]

This facility has a number of actual or mock-up aircraft used by NASA in flight testing here at Edwards. These include an F-104, Crusader, F-15, and the Lunar Lander Trainer used by the Apollo Astronauts, amoung others. The inside display is minimal but adequately covers much of the testing done here during the NASA years. The tour of the facilities is the finest portion of the "museum". It takes about 60 minutes including a short film. You tour an operational hanger with numerous operational aircraft including T-33, F-16, YF-16, and one of the only remaining operational Blackbirds.
If you are lucky you will see flight operations of a Blackbird, B-2, or other testbed aircraft. The west coast docking site for the Shuttle/747 Transport is here. Refurbishment of the Shutlle fleet is taking place in Palmdale, nearby. A rare look at operational NASA without the glitter. 10/18/2000 @ 00:56 [ref: 520]
