Dan Badger Yellow Springs, OH | The engine found in the Aeronca C-2 is an E-107, not the E-113 as listed. The 113 was a larger displacement engine, displacing 113.5 cubic inches. There were differences in the head and cylinder design, as well as in valving and timing. The E-107 had a larger diameter exhaust valve, and lower lift cam. Also, it was an L head design, meaning side valve, as opposed to the 113, which featured overhead valving. The 107 was rated at 26,27, or 30 hp (depending on your source) as opposed to the 113's 37 horses. Both numbers are at 2400 RPM. 08/10/2002 @ 10:54 [ref: 5456] |
