I graduated from two engine advanced flight school at Blythevill AR where we flew the mostly plywood Globe Aircraft built Beechcraft AT-10, Class of 44K. I got my first night cross country flight through a thunderstorm there.It tumbled all the gyros.My copilot and got some well remembered needle, ball and airspeed flight time and landed at Memphis TN others were not so lucky.
I went on to fly B-24's B-29's and later joined The SC Air National Guard where I flew a variety of transport and fighter aircraft.
My first super sonic flight was in a F-86A in 1953, My first Mach 2+ flight was in a F-104A in the early 1960's
I have a beautiful picture of the AT-10 sitting on a airport ramp, but have not been able to identify the location. I use this picture as a screen saver.
PS I got so much instructor given single engine time in this aircraft that I thought that I really was suppose to have been sent to single engine advanced Homer

I have aquired an at-10 motor mount. Its currently holding my r-680-13 static display motor. If anybody knows of any restoration projects and needs one id like to help them out!

Flew AT10 in Advanved Training, US army air Force, class44J, Freeman Field,Seymour, Ind. USA.96 hours plus 57hours copilot. Loved it! Got instrument rating in it. From there to B24 pilot. Have not seen one since; hoped to see one at oshkosh some year!

In a scrapbook started by my big brother I found a picture of a Beechcraft AT-10 Wichita with a V-tail. The picture was from a Swedish magazine sometime around 1945-1950.
Any comments/data about AT-10 with V-tail ?

I first flew the AT-10 at Ellington Field in Feb. 1944, then to Randolph Field central instructors school. back to Ellington as an instructor, then to Blackland Field instructing, overseas from there. Great memories. Have never seen one since then.

I went through Flight Instructors School at Randolph Field, Texas in 1943.. The plane that was used primarily at that location was the AT-10, with a few AT-9s.

It was my only association with this plane ( About 45 days)
and I never saw one after that!
