Hi all, for any of you who have posted, or will post in the future, please be sure to check out Facebook because there is a page for Veterans of the 138th Aviation Company. As you may know the unit flew the RU-6A, RU-8D, RU-21D, RU-21A, RU-21B, RU-21C and finally, the RC-12G. If you've ever been associated with the 138th or any of her sister companies in the 224th Avn Bn (RR) in Vietnam, or during the cold war with TF 138 and Ordway Grove, or Desert Storm or beyond we'd love to hear from you!

As an 058 I flew in the Ru8Ds from 1966 until I left in 1968. We also had Beavers and Otters and one Carabou. Many of our operators, including me, served for a year in Phu Bai 8th RRU before coming to the 146th for two more years. Great mission and great people to work with.

I flew the U-8s out of Danang with the 138 th from July 68-69. A very reliable aircraft. Dedicated mechanics and operators. I enjoyed it all except for the bad weather to contend with at times. I thought we were winning the damned war. Politiions should leave wars to the military.

I was at Nah Trang with the 144th in 69 till March 70. O5h operator. Hard time remembering names. Four hour missions in the mornings and then the rest of the day to do what we did. Nineteen years old living each day as if it was our last. If it had not been for the war, Nah Trang was great.

I fly backseat (05H) in the RU-8D during Vietnam. In 1969, I was assigned to the 144th Aviation Co. At NhaTrang. We flew hundreds of missions during '69, and, at times, in the worst weather - lots of turbulence and low-to-no visibility. We pushed the RU-8Ds to there limits most of the time. It was a great aircraft with an important history, and for me some of the greatest memories of my life.
