I was stationed @ McGuire in the 18th in 1961-1963. I was a flight engineer and checked out on both the A and B models of the C-135s. I really liked the B models due to the TF-33 (18,000 lbs thrust) engines as apposed to the J-57s (12,000 lbs thrust w/water) on the A models. I was on alert the evening that one of our planes crashed @ Gitmo killing all on board. Fine airplane and exceptionally fine pilots and crew members. Had the best maintenance men in the AF on the C-135A & B. I really enjoyed my stay at McGuire, even in the winter. I ended up with about 1200 hours flying time there

Was at McGuire in the 1612th from 1962 thru August 1965, worked in the docks the entire time, the last 2 years as a scheduler...Worst memory was having to remove all the "Day Glow" from the tail and nose with a heat gun during the dead of winter during the Cuban crisis. I remember Miller and Donato, wondering if there are any other websites where I may be able run down other guys I was stationed with ?

I was in the 1612 O.M.S. from 1961-1965 and I agree, it got cold in the winter. I was in towing and servicing until I was assigned to 780.

I was assigned with the 1612th OMS at McGuire also.Started with the Sqdn when we only had 3 KC's to train on.Worked the Docks until they were build up then back to the line and crewed a couple 4128/4130. Remember 4126 landing short at LV,and 0372 at Gitmo. Those were the years my friend those were the years,1961 to 1966. Yeah, Frank Danato I remember you.

I was assigned to the 1612 Organizational Maintenence Squadron at McGuire AFB from June 1962 to January 1966. After reaching my "5" level, I was assigned as Crew Chief to C-135a aircraft 61-0328. McGuire was a tough base during the cold NJ winters. I dreaded having to service the water injection tank on the "a" models. In hindsight (over 50 years), I wish I had stayed in the Air Force as a career.
