Opus Veres , FL | The previous comment is mistaken. There was only one prototype of the short-lived E-8B. It was built when the Boeing 707 production line was still active. The main difference over the E-8A were the four CFM-56 engines that produced greater range, faster climb to operating altitude and longer on-station time. It became a victim of the budget process and the decision to build all production E-8s on refurbished B-707 airframes. The E-8B was rebuilt as a TACAMO and for the US Navy. 04/15/2002 @ 08:01 [ref: 4724] |
