FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO LIKE AND REMEMBER THE BOEING F4B-1
I AM WAITING TO RECEIVE A REPLICA BY A FRIEND OF MINE WHO IS BUILDING SEVEN OF THEM AND ALSO RESTORING THE MODEL 100
USED BY PAUL MANTZ FOR TWENTY YEARS OR SO.
HE HAS BEEN WORKING WITH THE BOEING CO. AND THEY ARE A WORK OF ART. ALL OF THE PARTS ARE DONE AND HE HAS THE WINGS
AND THE FUSELAGES DONE AND THREE WITH THE ENGINES MOUNTED.
I GET NUMBER THREE AND TO SAY THE LEAST. I AM EXCITED.
THERE WASN'T MUCH PRESS ON THIS MODEL. I SUPPOSE ONE REASON
IS THAT IT CAME OUT AT THE SAME TIME AS THE GREAT DEPRESSION AND GOT LITTLE PRESS. I'VE TALKED TO PEOPLE WHO HAVE FLOWN IT AND WHEN ASKED TO DESCRIBE HOW IT FLEW, THEY REPLIED " IT EATS A LOT OF GAS AND GOES STRAIGHT UP." JR 08/11/2006 @ 17:41 [ref: 13864] |
