Mr. Bogdan:

I have reviewed your note and cannot help but agree with you regarding the S/N of the pictured Catalina as it is not consistant with any USAAF OA-10. On closer examination I realized that both pictures are really USN (i.e. PBY)subjects as they are identified as "Black Cats". The number on the tail is either a USN BuNo. or possibly fabricated for the painting. As a point of interest the Catalinas utilized by the USAAF were assigned to RESCUE squadrons not bombing units.

Hallo Mr Thomas C. STOPPELBEIN

Sorry for my English, I am a Pole.
On the colour Consolidated OA-10 photo I see s/n 40-8437 but I checked all USAAF serial numbers of 1940 beginnig from 40-001 ( St. Louis YPT-15 ), ending 40-3162 ( Douglas A-20 A Havoc ), then all numbers of Consolidated OA-10 versions : from 41-18722 ( OA-10 ) to 45-57907 ( OA-10 B ) and I wonder what aircraft picture I see.
Could You please explain.
The same concern to the white - black Catalina.

Greetings from Poland
Bogdan
