Charles L. Day , MI | Cornelius XFG-1 was built by Spartan Aircraft, OK. It was forward swept wing test bed. #059 crashed killing the Spartan pilot. The crash occurred near Clinton County Army Air Field, Wilmington, Ohio in March 1945. #060 and a scale model wiht spin chute did spin recovery tests after the crash of #059.

Morgan M. Blair Lomita, CA | Several years ago I sent you a comment on the USAF XFG-1 Cornelius Forward Swept Wing Fuel Tank Glider, but never recieved any comments or response. Since I know that to be correct information as I was at the Wright Field Aircraft Lab at the time, I wonder if that information has been disregarded as incorrect, or what?

Bogdan ATAMAN Warsaw, OTH | The Eberhardt XFG-1 Comanche ( BuNo A 7944 ) fighter of 1927 was tested on wheels first, and then on a single float with 32'0" wings designated as XF2G-1 Comanche with the same BuNo.

Morgan \"Mac\" Blair Lomita, CA | Your picture and specification of the Cornelius "Glider- Fuel Tanker" is incorrect. You picture a fighter ( either a Boeiong or Curtiss Biplane). George Cornelius tanker/glider was a unique machine. You might best describe it as a large streamlined fuel-tank with FORWARD SWEPT WINGS. It was built and flown succesfully at Wright Field back in the days of WW II.
I used a picture of it in our much more recent North American/Rockwell Forward Swept Wing proposal that Grumman won and built. But I'm sure that pictures can be found from Wright Field, Aircraft Lab Files.
