Aaron F. Robinson Wilmington, NC | The C-46A was the most numerous variant of the Curtiss transport, a total of 1454 examples being produced. 11/21/2008 @ 16:21 [ref: 23120] |
John Voss Los Gatos, CA | As a point of interest nearly 1500 C-46A's were constructed, two (2) of which were manufactured by Higgins in New Orleans, LA. Upon completion of these two A/C the USAAF cancelled the remaining 498 on their contract. Does anyone have any details on this cancellation? Perhaps Higgins was better suited for expendable wooden landing craft production... 02/24/2006 @ 09:00 [ref: 12600] |
