Dirk Woestenburg Morro bay, CA | I was flight test director on this project when the regular director suffered a broken leg in an unrelated incident. This vehicle was suppored to be a replacement for the Jeep, able to be flown using ground effects, primarily. It proved to be a vehicle which was tough to fly and even tougher to maintain. I also conducted wind tunnel tests on this craft. We rented the low speed wind tunnel at UCLA. Our plant was in Gelota, CA. The test pilot was a crusty old dude who once refused to fly more than 20 feet above the ground unless he got a pay raise. It was fun but impractable! 03/24/2004 @ 18:38 [ref: 7050] |
