G.L. Perez when were you at WTI? I was there in March and April of 86 with a bunch of the guys from Alameda and Cherry Point. I was with H&MS-13 and was the night shift Flight Line/Plane Captain CDI.

Hello folks. I was originally with MAG-42 stationed at NAS Alameda, CA, and we had TA-4J's and A-4F's, but I maintained an OA-4M during WTI in Yuma for 30 days, and I absolutely, loved it. If were to be a millionair, I would purchase one of these :)

Definitely, the baddest of the bunch, except for perhaps the afterburner version of the A-4's that the Israeli AF had. The US A-4's could have benefitted from an upgraded powerplant (and after burners), and it would have been retiring in just recent years.

Skyhawk's For Ever!

Wow! Glad I found this site. I did four Westpac tours and three of them in Iwakuni. All H&MS-12 P/P shop or test cell.
On my first two tours in the early seventies I lived in block 8. my last tour in -81-82 H&ms-12 had OA-4M's.
I miss three corners/RTO and Kintai.

Holy sh--- Its good to hear names I haven't heard in 20 years. I live
in Irvine right down the street from the base. I looked up rusty Strausbaugh and have his contact info if anyone wants it. The 1980's were the best time to be in the Corps. Remeber crazy Kurderan, Gunny Ned, Sgt Kinser, Sgt Santos, who got busted at CAX in 86 for telling an officer to ------- off. I think the missing serial you guys are looking for is the one that crashed in Laguna Hills. Skippy Nyland taking a dump in a shoe by on the way to Fallon cause the bus would stop. You can reach me bob@aireagleaviation.com. Mobile 949-300-1772.
