As an Army Brat going through 6th & 7th grade at Camp Zama, Japan, I would watch the Skynights operating out of Naval Air Station Atsugi in 1957. I was told they were night-fighters and painted black for that mission. Of course, I thought they were the coolest thing in the air and later became a Navy pilot. The A-6 Intruder was sort of like the Skynight - with side-by-side seating for the pilot and crew, and most missions at night. The Skynight has really dropped out of sight and seems to have had no combat history. 02/05/2007 @ 13:00 [ref: 15425]
