The .50 guns were located in the wings torwards the roots, and would extend backwards when needed.

According to the script that goes with the photos of the
XB-43 Jet Master it was to be armed with 50 cal tail guns.
With exhaust pipes in the tail, just where were these guns
supposed to be located ??? I mean, its not that roomy
back there!

designated YB-43
