Kevin Byrne Detroit, MI | For the writer who'd buy 1 for a few million, I've been pricing the C-82 (thinking of building a studio apt in the front of the cargo bay and hauling my car in the back by the ramp and living a gypsy life during my pending retirement) and they only cost about 1/4 of 1 million, so start saving now. I remember seeing these on the weekend flying over detroit in the early 60's (probably from Selfridge ANG base nearby w/ weekend warriors aboard) and then later w/ different paint moving auto parts out of Detroit City Airport.

twosocks4 , ON | Just love this aircraft!Fell in love during the movie"The
Flight of the Phoenix".I've seen other web sights were
they say it's an ugly bird.I don't see it that way!
I think it's beautiful!I like the way the fuselage
bulges out in the middle then tapers straight at the ends,
kind of like a B-24 liberator. The wings are shaped like a
F4u Corsair. The twin booms like the P-38 lightening.
All those intresting features, plus lining everything
up so that it's all straight!Surely must be quite a job
to build,especially for the forties.
Matter of fact,I'm in the process of building my own
C-82.It will have 36"in.wing span,balsa,tissue const.and
rubber power. Will also be in the Fight of Pheonix colors.
PS.If I had a few million dollars I'd buy one
Thank you! 10/26/2002 @ 10:21 [ref: 5961] |
