There appears to be a bit of confusion relative to the manufacturer of aircraft shown in the accompanying photograph. The machine in the photograph is, without question, a Hiller Rotorcycle.
The XROE helicopter was manufactured by Hiller Aircraft, or under license by Saunders and Roe of England (as the YROE), not by Gyrodyne.
Gyrodyne, however, did manufacture a series of small one man helicopters which were designated XRON. These were of a co-axial rotor configuration. A representative example of this machine was on exhibit at MCAS Quantico, VA.
