Gentlemen:
I graduated from Ft, Rucker Feb.'63.
(ORWAC 62-10A)
As I recall, there was an OH-23A on display in front of the Ft. Rucker HQ building, adjacent to the parade field.
It was on wheels. (3?)
If anyone knows about this "A" 23 they might be able to confirm/validate what I saw.
I think one of my classmates told me it was one of the first Army Hillers in the inventory and was originally designed with wheels and not skids..
Had I had the wherewithall to take a photo of the Hiller in question, that would be proof positive..
I had an opportunity to visit the Army Aviation Museum about 16 years ago and I was impressed with the A/C displayed indoors. Several of the [helicopter] exhibits I had the oppoortunity to fly over the years..
I'm sure it has expanded since then.
The OH-23 F "508" (in storage) is the same one I flew in Iran in the '60s.
I did write a comment about the OH-23F "508" on the "F" comment page.
Other Hiller models I flew ;
OH-23A (civilian model-on skids)
OH-23B Ohio Army Guard -107th ACR
OH-23C(Ft. Eustis,VA) AMOC
OH-23D(Camp Wolters-TX)
OH-23F (Iran)Geodetic field operations-64th Eng. Bn.
OH-23G (AZ-NM Geodetic projects)-30th Eng. Bn.
JOH-23L.(315HP LYC -turbocharged)--AZ-NM Geodetic projects)
Continued success..

I was a Chinook crewchief with the 101st Airborne from June 1968 until April 1969.In a picture I took of a firebase in the Ashau valley there is an H-23.The print date on the picture is Feb.1969.Any idea whose helicopter this was?I thought they were phased out by early 1968.Any help you could give me on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,Hank
