I am curious as I could not find any pictures of the C-111. Are there any, or was the plane actually named the Lockheed "Hudson" super electra picture?

Thank you very much in advance,

Matthew

In fact, these three aircraft were acquired from KNILM, the former Dutch East Indies airline. When the East Indies were captured by Japan, these aircraft were flown to Australia in March 1942 and were purchased by the USAAF for use in Australi. They were previously registered as PK-AFN, PK-AFP and PK-AFQ. The aircraft were used by the Allied transport services in Australia since May 1942 with radiocall signs VHCXI, VHCXJ and VHCXK. On 20 June 1944 the aircraft were formally designated as C-111 and given serials 44-83233 (PK-AFN), 44-83234 (PK-AFP) and 44-83235 (PK-AFQ). By then two of the aircraft had been written off and the third aircraft (VHCXJ) remained in Australian use. The serials were never carried.

If you like, I have a black and white painting of the C-111. If you like, I can upload it for your use. The painting is quite accurate. It is the Lockheed "Hudson" super electra used by the RAAF in 1942.
