During World War II, the U.S. Army Air Corps impressed fifteen Lockheed Model 10-A Electras for use during the wartime emergency. Although the aircraft were built in the late 1930s, the aircraft were assigned 1942 serial numbers and were very similar to the C-36. The UC-36As were used in secondary missions until 1944 when the planes were returned to their original owners
