Lockheed YAH-56A 'Cheyenne'
|
Bill Stevens , CA | I have had the pleasure of knowing two of the pilots who flew the Cheyenne , Berch Richard and Ray Goudey. They both felt it was a great concept. I have to admit that they are both extraordinary pilots and I wonder if it would not have become another " Harrier " that would have eaten ordinary pilots for breakfast? 03/14/2009 @ 10:04 [ref: 23938] |
SSG Longest, Barry J , VA | One is also on display out in front of the museum on Fort Campbell, Kentucky. 03/12/2009 @ 13:49 [ref: 23933] |
Berch Richard Alexandria, LA | As a Lockheed test pilot on the Cheyenne program, I was the first to fire all 6 TOW missiles successfully on a single flight. I also did most of the night vision testing at Yuma Proving Ground.
It could have been the best combat helicopter the Army could have had, cancelling the program was a bad decision. 08/21/2008 @ 14:36 [ref: 22518] |
Dick Tobiason Bend, OR | As an Army Major and graduate of US Naval Test Pilot School, I fired the first TOW missle of a Cheyenne at Yuam Proving Grounds, AZ.
The Cheyenne program was halted after a fatal crash caused by an unstable flight control system. 02/23/2008 @ 19:10 [ref: 19757] |
