Your "Phantom" photo is really the only surviving Luscombe 4, also known as the Luscombe "Ninety" because it had a 90 hp. Warner engine. Only four or five were built, and this is the only survivor. The Phantom was somewhat larger and had a 145 hp. Warner engine. 03/28/2008 @ 18:50 [ref: 20277] |
Gary Wolfe Tucson, AZ | Sorry! I got the date wrong on photo of the model 4 Phantom. I actually saw it in 1972. 03/11/2007 @ 11:43 [ref: 15848] |
Gary Wolfe Tucson, AZ | Another great Luscomb is the earlier model 4 Phantom (see photo below). This one was seen at Watsonville, CA in 2004. 03/11/2007 @ 11:39 [ref: 15847] |
Scott Royce Galveston, TX | I have a 1940 Luscombe 8A which has been modified and painted to replicate "Junior" the C-90 that was stationed in the Canal Zone during WWII. The plane is hangared and flies out of Galveston, TX. SR
