RE: US Navy A-30 Baltimore - This aircraft was assigned to the USN Bureau of Aeronautics (BAR) rep in 1943 and was based at the Brewster Aircraft Co. (probably at their Johnsville, PA factory as they were producing Corsairs and Bermudas). In 1944 the aircraft was assigned to the BAR rep at the Martin Aircraft Co (Baltimore, MD). It remained there until Jan 31, 1949! Surely one of the last A-30's in service.

The USN BuNo. for this A-30 was 09804. Still looking for info on this particular A/C. Apparently the USN had only one A-30.

As it generally known the Martin A-30 was a Lend-Lease aircraft that went to primarily to Britain and other commonwealth air forces. However, I have seen photos of a bare aluminum finish A/C with US markings and "Navy" stenciled on the tail. Ironically,it retained its USAAF designation of A-30 as opposed to a US Navy designation. It may have been operated as late as 1947. Refer to the publication "Martin P4M-1 Mercator" by Stever Ginter, p.8. for a photo. Does anyone have further info on this aircraft?
