was tail gunner in vpb 17 made trans pac from frisco way-way overloaded! took off from bay with aid of jato. that was truly a kick in the ass. when we arrived in war zone , every one wanted to see all the goodies with which we were equippedthat we were equiped. when we returned in 1945 every one wanted to see the antique. proior to action in pacific we did training and patrol out of banana river. made liquor amd cigarette run many times from san juan. picked up new pbms at chorpus and ferried to diego, with unscheduled stop at salton sea because of diego fog. squadron spent last six months of war at towi-towi, borneo. did some dumbo in philipines and indonesia. piled up on reef at kanehoe , but in less than week had replaced bottom and was on way to ulithi .
