D. REGAN LI NY, NY | THE PBM-5 WAS A PATROL BOMBER,SEAPLANE STYLE, USED IN SUBMARINE SEARCH ETC. MY OLDER BROTHER ANTHONY G. "BUDDY", WAS AN AVIATION MACHINIST MATE FIRST CLASS IN ONE OF THESE SQUADRONS DURING WORLD WAR 2,HE KNEW THE PLANE INSIDE AND OUT AND LOVED IT. HE WAS IN THE PACIFIC AND EXPERIENCED 14 KAMAKAZI DURING THAT TIME. I WENT INTO THE NAVY TWO YEARS LATER AND WENT TO AVIATION RADIO SCHOOL AT NATTC MEMPHIS TENN.I TRAINED ON ALL THE RADIO/RADAR GEAR FOR THE PBM THE TBM TORPEDO BOMBERS, AND THE SB2C DIVE BOMBERS BUT AT WAR'S END THESE PLANES WERE SOON FORGOTTEN BY THE MILITARY BUT NOT THOSE WHO SERVED IN THEM. 11/08/2006 @ 19:32 [ref: 14700] |
