Don Seiber newark, OH | I was in Sanford when the 1st one came down for a demo from Pax River. They told us it was only a mach 2 aircraft, but they also said it was 29 minutes from chock to chock. I think they lied about something!!!
I remember it coming in like it was going to do touch and goes, then he hit the burners and set it on it's ass and went out of sight. Quite a sight after watching our ole Whales!!! 11/19/2007 @ 15:34 [ref: 18596] |

Ed Bolger , OH | I was stationed at NAS Sanford in 1960-1962, working on the aircraft line. I witnessed A3J's landing and going off the runway and being buried deep in the sand whereby the crane had to pull the aircraft out. 01/17/2007 @ 19:09 [ref: 15215] |

Fast Photo Sanford, FL | A total of 6 A3J-2 was delivered to NAS Sanford. The main difference was the topcap fuel tank which gave the A/C forward lift. Later thse A/C's were returned to the factory and converted to RA5C's by adding a Recon package of PECM and the canoe with cameras and side looking radar to name a few of its recon capabilities. 01/20/2006 @ 18:36 [ref: 12212] |
