The FJ-4B's we had assigned to VA-116 in late 1957, had 6 underwing hard points and an air to air refueling probe under the stbd wing

Ed and Leo,

We maintain the only flying FJ in the world. Always looking for parts. If you have any info on planes or parts that dont belong to the Navy, give me a holler.

Thanks,

Steve Phillips

Leo / Ed - I believe my father, Lt. Col E.A. Buford jr USMC, is standing in uniform and looking away from the man in the black suit.

I have fond memories of the FJ-4 and the FJ-4B. I served as a Field Service Representative for North American Aviation, Columbus Division in the late 50's. I was stationed at Willow Grove, El Toro and Alamedia. There are some photos taken with VMA-223 at El Toro that I up-loaded some time ago.

I had the fun and pleasure of flying the FJ-4 and FJ-4B (later designated AF-1E) over a 6 year period on active and active reserve duty. The Fury taught me how to be a jet pilot. Great airplane. Ended up with over 600 hours of super flying! Served on active duty with 3 squadrons, VMF-451 and VMF-334 at Atsugi NAS and VMA-223 at El Toro. Flew in the reserves at NAS Memphis and NAS Dallas.
