Engines
Used a liquid fueled, compound, rotary, rocket engine which consisted of multiple rocket engines rotating about an axis. It was thought that this configuration would reduce difficulties should one of the engines fail. The rocket engines at this time were comparitvely low-powered and the aircraft required more than one engine to achieve its speed goals. Much of the delay in developement of this aircraft was due to the difficulties of perfecting this engine.
The University of California performed the studies on the prone position used in the MX-324. 02/22/2006 @ 15:02 [ref: 12581] |
