eraser , NY | Thats the F-14A, the F-14D fixed all those issues(though its still a two seater)
They F-14 and F-18/17 were designed for completely different purposes. Replacing one with the other is asking for poor performance 06/13/2006 @ 18:31 [ref: 13516] |
Tony B , MI | Dude, G. Von Leue. The f-14 is stall prone. The Navy has lost more F-14 in non war exercises because they r underpowered and heavy. It needs 2 pilots!!! It has the same problem the F-4 had. it takes 2 people to operate the f-14s radar.. FENOMINAL COST TOO!!!!! 06/10/2002 @ 17:07 [ref: 5086] |
G. Von Leue Lakeland, FL | The YF-17 lost the race to be U.S.A.F.'s light-weight fighter to the BETTER F-16. The YF-17 led to the heavier, bulkier, and CRAPY! F/A-18 for the Navy. The Navy is now replacing the BUTT KICKING! F-14 with the F/A-18.IDIOTS!!! 12/13/2001 @ 15:02 [ref: 3819] |
tony b lincoln, MI | The YF-17A later became the new design fo the McDonnell
Douglas F/A-18 Hornet. The YF-17 was actually designed to be the Air Force's light wieght fighter, but Northrops uniqe
aircraft lost out to the Genaral Dynamics YF-16 Falcon. 04/04/2001 @ 20:01 [ref: 1988] |
JL Pensicola, FL | I really do like the F/A-18 Hornet and understand why the U.S.
Navy changed the design works for a Carrier-based Aircraft.
However, the F-17 design is the best looking of the two. 10/03/2000 @ 16:03 [ref: 838] |
