Just came across this site while looking for a carb for my R-975. The Continental R-975 is very similar to the Wright. I think it was a "built under license" deal. Some parts are interchangeable, as far as I know. The crankshaft will accommodate a 30 SAE spine prop, but there is no place for a prop governor. The "nose bowl" from a Wright R-975 will fit the Continental, and has the mount for the prop governor. I have one that has been so modified. I also have the Hup engine mount. Never been mounted.

The HUP-3 (i.e. "-3") was the designation given to fifty (50) examples acquired from U.S. Army stocks.

Was looking for a new book that was titled RETRIEVER ONE by Addison Gast. It is about a group of NamVets that go back to Laos to ghet buried gold. This site is obviously not it. BUT, very interesting--how many of these were made? As a ex rotohead I find the design interesting. All that with 550 HP??

I tried an e-mail before, if you not received it:
I'm looking for details between the Wright R-975 engine and the Hup-s Continental R-975.
I can buy a Hup engine, a complete powerunit, for use in a proposed Koolhoven replica aircraft, but need to know if the continental cranckshaft is unmodified, so it still will take a metal prop, 2D30. we have not a single piece of manual. We had four Hup-3's from France, via Belgium to Holland, but two have been scrapped long time ago. One survives outside for 30 years, and one is inside and very good. Two engine power units survive, of which one with the latter owner. Can you give me an answer please?? Thanks!!
