Peter Bednar Marion, IA | The Blue-Orange aircraft in this photo is a Pietenpol Sky Scout, not an Air Camper. It differs by being powered generally by a made over model T engine, and having arrangements for the pilot only. 11/19/2008 @ 12:21 [ref: 23105] |
tom tesmar Hudson, WI | My cousin has an original set of plans for the Pietenpol that he got directly from Bernie Pietenpol. I'm sure that the EAA has a means of getting them, as well.
The Pietenpol Air Camper with the Ford model A engine was submitted to the Army as a proposed military liason aircraft. It lost the competition, but, as a result of that submission, the Ford Model A engine was designated, and still qualifies, as a "Certified Aircraft Engine".
