| Del Younglas Westlake, TX | I am sending 5 pixs of my Piper NE-2 #29677 and 1 pix of another NE-2 #29685.
Twenty were ordered by the Navy in 1945. These 20 serial numbers were shipped out of the USAAF production run to the Navy. Records indicate #29677 was received by the Navy in San Diego 1 Aug 1945 and was never removed from it's crate. Sold to a FBO in California Nov 1946. That is the reason for the USAAF OD green colors. Research indicates only 11 of the original serial numbers are still know to exist. My restoration was completed May 1997 and took approximately 18 months. 07/25/2001 @ 09:55 [ref: 2754] |
