Walter E. Raby , PA | Right after I received my discharg papers from the USAF I went back to Pennsylvania. I started a soap business, flew in the USAF reserves (C-46's) . I bought an L-14 for $1500 and towed aerial banners at the York, PA fair grounds for 3 1/2 years. ( 1948 thru 1951) It was a great airplane because I could fly at about 40 MPH and not tare up the last letters on the banner. Towing with a Stearman is too fast and you lose a letter (Costing about $20) every time you flew. While towing with the L-14 I never ruined the last letter. I got recalled for the Korean War and my brother sold the L-14 in l951 or l952. The tail number on my L-14 was NC-69255. Naturally, I would like to know what haappened to the airplane. So, if anybody has some information I would like to receive some of it at wraby@myway.com
Many regards, Walter E. Raby 09/23/2006 @ 21:38 [ref: 14274] |
