The Ryan Navion military designation is L-17. Photos exist with General Douglas MacArthur in a L-17 aboard an aircraft carrier.

This picture should not be attached to the L-10, this picture is a Ryan Navion. The Navion was a designed purchased from North American after WWII. The L-10 was the designation for the Ryan SC-W built in 1938. The prototype (S/N # 201) flew as a Ryam SC-M and originally had an inline engine. The prototype was converted to the production model (SC-W) by installing the Warner Scarab 145 radial engine. This airplane can be found today in the EAA Museum in Oshkosh WI. This plane suffered an early demise due to production space demainds for a contract Ryan received to build ST-M trainers for the military. The last SC-W was built in the 1950s from spare parts and appond examination by Ryan Employees was awarded a manufactures plate and ther serial number 214. If you can find it the Ryan SC-W stars as the Japanese attact planes in the 1942 movie "Wake Island" with Robert Preston. Another good example and many photos can be found on the the website www.russellw.com. The owner of this site owns a Ryan and is still flyning it today.
