Sikorsky HRS-2 'Chickasaw'
|
fuk , FL | I have another serial number for your record. I got it out if my grandfathers flight log, serial number 130196, july 1955. 05/04/2007 @ 14:44 [ref: 16402] |
Tom Lawrence Stratford, CT | I think there is confusion here over the difference between the HRS-2 / H-19 / S-55 and the HR2S / H-37 / S-56
The S-55 used both the P&W R-1340 and the Wright R-1300. The S-56 used the P&W R-2800 only. 01/05/2007 @ 12:58 [ref: 15111] |
Robert F. Dorr Oakton, VA | Huh? I doubt if any HRS-2 was ever named the "Chicaksaw," which is the U.S. Army's popular name for its H-19 helicopters (adopted only in the late 1950s long after Marine HRS and Army H-19s were in the Korean War). I also question whether the HRS-2 model had the R-1340 engine, which was certainly the powerplant for the earlier HRS-1. 03/31/2005 @ 18:14 [ref: 9846] |
