DICK ATKINS ARLINGTON, TX | I am Archives Director of the Vought Aircraft Heritage Foundation seeking add information to our files on the Vought VE-7 and VE-9 "Bluebird" aircraft.
I have material from all of the obvious sources so I am seeking to add data from those dark recesses of historians file cabinets that have not seen the light of day for decades. Especially documentation regarding military and civilian Bluebirds that were flown by a member of your family. There were many in the Barnstormer community after WW I.
As a matter of interest, VAHF Retirees are completing a VE-7 replica which will be displayed in the Frontiers of Flight Muesum at Dallas Love Field, probably in 2007.
We are aware of the VE-7 parts at the San Diego Air Museum and at the Museum of Flight in Seattle
I am also hoping that in a dusty barn someplace, there is one remaining Bluebird aircraft!
Any help out there folks????
