Matt Austin, TX | When I was a Kid back in the 60's I remember that there was a scale flying model of the V173. My Dad owned a hobby store and this plane (Kit)was was in the back of the shop. I think this was a pre diecut era kit (cut the parts out yourself). I not sure who the manufacturer was it may have been Gulliows. There was also a flying kit of Jack Northrop's flying wing I believe the YB 49. 11/11/2006 @ 06:15 [ref: 14727] |
Paul , WI | Tim, I found that wikapedia offers a lot of specs, but not enough to build it. By the way, if you do presute the project more, please post it, the minute I herd of this plane I fell in love with it. 10/28/2006 @ 18:09 [ref: 14604] |

David Harris Morenci, MI | Ok, I am a student pilot. I looked at this plane and if there is one thing that I can say about it it is this.... If this plane was put into production, we would not be learning in Cessnas. Now, who owns the rights to this aircraft? And would there be a chance that they would make the upgrades to actually produce this it? I would love to fly one. 12/02/2004 @ 02:29 [ref: 8767] |
Ron Griffith , TX | Vought Aircraft Retiree Club is negotiating with the Smithonian. They are offering to restore the only model in existance. It is a 2/3 scale that was used for validation testing. The only full size article was destroyed when the program was cancelled in 1947.
Look at Vought.com and then press Heritage to view the Retiree Club activities 11/03/2002 @ 10:15 [ref: 6012] |
