Jack Hammell , KS | The UH-1E was the aircraft, configured as a gunship, used by then-Captain Stephen W. Pless, United States Marine Corps, in a rescue effort that earned him the Medal of Honor in 1967 in Vietnam. 06/02/2006 @ 08:36 [ref: 13432] |
Steve H , NC | The UH-1E is an a Navalized version of the Army's UH-1C (204) and not the UH-1D (205). The major changes were communications and navigation gear and more importantly aluminum instead of the magnesium found in the C. The E was designed for shipboard use where corrosion is a major factor. There were 213 UH-1E's produced.
